After many years of extensive planning with partners from the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, The Watershed Center, and Redding Trail Alliance, this 3,000-foot descent trail from Weaver Bally Road is finally open and ready to be enjoyed by all non-motorized traffic. This effort would not have been possible without the additional volunteer and outreach efforts of Trinity Trail Alliance and our amazing funders and donors.
On SATURDAY, JULY 22nd, we will have shuttles available to take mountain-bikers from the Trinity County Brewing Company up to the top of the trail. These shuttles will run from 1:00-4:00pm on a first-come, first-served basis, and there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at the top around 1:30, thank-yous and acknowledgements at 5:30, and music by Mojito at TCBC at 6:00.
While Sweepstakes is indeed a multi-use non-motorized trail open to hikers, bikers, and equestrians, we want to emphasize that, for the sake of safety and timing, the July 22nd event will be geared specifically toward mountain bikers.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude toward Mike McFadin and Sally Cousins of the USFS, Josh Smith from the Watershed Center, Nate Knudsen of Redding Trail Alliance, and Alan Seegmiller from Trinity Trail Alliance. This project would not have been possible without their shared vision, camaraderie, and drive to increase fun and recreational opportunities in this county. It takes a village and it takes a lot of time and patience, but we got there! The newest, baddest trail in the Weaver Basin is sure to be a crowd-pleaser and a shining jewel in an extensive, scenic, trail system.
This project is funded in part by the McConnell Foundation, Redding, California. The McConnell Foundation is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to help build better communities through philanthropy.
This project is also partly funded by a generous gift from Craig Muir.
We are so thankful for the opportunity to make this trail a reality and are excited to share it with the community. Let's get after it!
