The Hayfork Youth Conservation Crew is a part of the Watershed Center’s youth program that helps to create jobs and work experience for our local youth. The HYCC are a crew of 4-8 high school students (ages 15-18) who learn valuable skills through performing manual labor, gaining work experience, and connecting to the outdoors.

One of the few employment options for youth in Trinity County, this program provides valuable work experience, hands-on learning, and exposure to natural resource professions while providing these young adults with the chance to make connections with role-models and mentors in the community.

The HYCC also supports our restoration efforts on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, accomplishing valuable conservation work such as trail maintenance, noxious weed management, fuels reduction, native plant protection, fence building, ranch and farm maintenance and much more.  The work accomplished helps to restore ecosystems, teaches the youth the value of protecting them, and maintains opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts. Our Hayfork Youth Conservation Crew is a vital community resource that invests in future generations while protecting our national forests.
