Youth Programs

Investing in local youth is a critical component to creating a better future for our community. The Watershed Center’s youth programs are designed to foster a culture of stewardship by providing opportunities for local youth to take care of the place they live, and offering them ways to contribute to the community.

Since 2001, The Watershed Center has partnered with local schools, agencies, organizations, and community members to support two youth programs, Indian Valley Summer Camp and the Hayfork Youth Conservation Crew. Each year these programs engage local youth ages 8-18, serving up to 80 campers and employing up to nine young adults. These programs provide opportunities for place-based education, hands-on learning, access to role models and mentors, job skills and work expereince.

The Watershed Center also supports youth enrichment projects such as:

  • Trinity County Environmental Camp for 5th graders at Bar 717
  • Youth Salmon Gathering event for 4th & 5th grade students
  • Fisheries and other science field trips to the Hayfork Community Wetlands for 7th-12th graders
