Creating a Vibrant Future for Rural Lands and Communities

The Watershed Research and Training Center is a non-profit organization located in the heart of Trinity County, California. We conduct the full gamut of land and watershed management services, lead state biomass and fire resilience partnerships, and through partnerships with communities, organizations, and public agencies we steward our landscape, create and sustain quality jobs, and connect people to the land and each other.

NATIONAL

The Watershed Center stewards a national network of communities learning to better adapt to frequent fire. This network is shaping what living with fire means and demonstrating new approaches to fire and land management. We are leaders in the community-based forestry movement.

We are partnering with the US Forest Service on a community navigator effort to connect communities with resources, partnerships, and capacity-building for wildfire risk mitigation and climate resilience.

Our Mission

We strive to create and sustain healthy lands and healthy communities. We work locally, statewide, and nationally to steward our natural resources and support community resilience. Through partnerships with community members, organizations, public agencies, tribes and businesses, we care for our forest and rivers, create jobs, and connect people to the land and each other.
