Amidst increasing drought, wildfire impacts, and the compounding effects of climate change, Californians long for resilient forest ecosystems. The Watershed Center is integrating science, planning, policy, and capacity building to advance two of the most critical yet underutilized tools in forest management: biomass utilization and prescribed fire. Statewide we are strengthening partnerships and networks while marshalling leading natural resource managers to more fully deploy these tools and realize their potential for restoring forest resilience, mitigating climate impacts, and improving community well-being.
